Of the days Ray was able to visit, only three separate days were available to him before the initial day he was to pick Victoria up from the hospital. Those days went well without Nurse Grovers bothering him; she pretty much ignored his presence.
The doctors were told in advance that Ray was picking her up, so they had him wait for her downstairs while they brought her down in a wheelchair as a precaution since she was still sensitive on her ankle.
Ray watched the elevator in nervous anticipation, watching strangers go in, and strangers come out. Whenever the elevator doors opened, his heart pounded. He was anxious now that he would be seeing Victoria elsewhere and no longer in her hospital bed. This was getting all too real for him now. He had to force his feet to stand their ground and not run from this hopeful happiness.
Finally, when the elevator doors opened for what felt like the eighteenth time, Ray saw her, and he couldn’t help but swallow as he smiled at her.
The male doctor stopped them at the front desk so that she could fill out the sign-out sheet. Ray stood beside her. As Ray waited, he noticed Nurse Grovers’ back turned to him. Obviously, she was still sad or even mad.
He decided to apologize; he hated when people were still mad at him for any reason. “Excuse me, Ms. Grovers? I just want to apologize.”
She only turned her head slightly, still not wanting to look at him. “Is that all?”
“I don’t understand.”
“Is that really how you apologize to someone? No explanation?”
“Oh, uh, no.” He cleared his throat, “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner. That I didn’t just tell you that I wasn’t interested right of the bat.”
Melinda raised an eyebrow, shaking her head slowly. “Guess I’ll accept that. Since that’s the best you seem you can do.”
“Sorry. I don’t know how else to really say it.” Ray shrugged some, “It’s just, I really am sorry.”
Victoria laid a hand on his right arm, “Ray, I’m ready to go.”
Ray looked down at her and nodded; he was also ready to get out of there himself. He smiled apologetically one last time at Grovers before following the doctor and Victoria out the exit doors toward the Ecto-1.

The Ecto-1 was waiting for them in the patient pick-up lane. There were people all around it taking pictures of the car and of each other next to it.
There were even news reporters talking into the cameras, waiting for a Ghostbuster to appear.
Before the three got closer to the car, Victoria asked Ray, “Is it always like this?”
“Sometimes, but thankfully not always.”
“I’ll get used to this sooner or later,” she joked.
Ray smiled, putting a hand on her shoulder.
When Stantz was seen by a fan, everyone else there stopped what they were doing and ran up to him, asking questions about why he was there, what happened, and who the woman he was with was.
Ray cleared his throat. He told the news reporters about the incident at the Night Inn but didn’t answer why he visited the patient many times at the hospital. He even didn’t respond on what her name was and what his dealings with her were.
The reporters even tried asking Victoria those questions, but Ray stood in front of her, blocking them.

As Ray was dealing with the fans and the reporters – Victoria letting him sign autographs and answer some of the questions – they had no idea that they were being watched from inside the building on the first floor.
The eyes watching them were filled with various emotions: anger, jealousy, love, and want.
The nurse, Melinda Grovers, watched as Ray opened the passenger side door for his love interest, got into the driver’s side, and pulled out slowly away from the hospital. Speaking softly to herself so no one could hear, she said, “You will be mine soon, Raymond Stantz. Because I am the only one for you!” She smirked.
